About the Suffolk Education Business Partnership.

The BeMMaD project is hosted by the Suffolk EBP (Education Business Partnership) with funding from v the national youth volunteer charity. The Suffolk EBP aims to provide links between education, business and  the wider community to:

  • Provide work related learning
  • Develop the future workforce
  • Provide community links for industry
  • Raise standards and achievement
  • Enhance the National Curriculum

A number of projects run side by side to provide young people with work related learning opportunities developed in partnership with local business and industry. Mentoring is an effective means of meeting the organisations aims. Mentors are recruited from a variety of associated backgrounds to enable young people to make informed choices that reflect the real world of work. The Suffolk EBP currently has industry specific, undergraduate, E-mentoring and peer mentoring schemes available to young people in schools throughout the county with Aimhigher and Passport to Success mentoring programmes achieving the Mentoring and Befriending Foundations Approved Provider Standard.

A number of other structured activities not related to mentoring are available to schools and education professionals. The complete Suffolk EBP Portfolio of Services is available in the downloads section.

Our v involved BeMMaD project is a natural extension of the Suffolk EBP mentoring opportunities. The team of three BeMMaD staff support and encourage young people aged 16-25 to take the lead in developing and delivering projects that reflect their interests, experiences and concerns. Each project has specific aims agreed by young people and relating to the setting, such as community groups, children’s centres or schools and colleges.
